To understand where I am coming from, I will give a brief history. Some of it I will expand upon later.

I was raised by painfully normal parents. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate it. I have just lived very differently. My dad was an officer in the military, so we moved around a good bit. Home is definitely what and where you make it. My mom started out as a homemaker and ended up a CPA before I was out of high school. I was raised by very normal professional middle class people who taught me a lot about how life is supposed to be. They have been in what I consider to be the perfect marriage for a very long time now. To some degree, I think they set the bar pretty high and maybe even too high for what I expect out of a relationship/marriage. Either way, I thank them. Though I am very different than they are, I am the good man I am today because of them. While I don't see things as they do on many things, I attribute my core values to my upbringing.

I am 38 years old and I have been fortunate enough to be in love 3 times. Unfortunately I was too young for 2 of them to work out. The other can be attributed to bad timing. To be honest, I'm still sorting it all out in my mind, but I am better for all of those experiences.

I've led a very interesting and colorful life despite (and because of) my circumstances. I got all of my playing around and being a "player" done when I was still pretty young. I had my first child less than a month after I turned 19, so there isn't much I haven't done for a living at one time or another. Not all of it was completely above board. My experiences have been quite varied. I take pride in the fact that I can blend in with almost any crowd.

I have two kids, both with the same woman. With that said, I was never in love with their mother. That is a long story and possibly not appropriate for posting on the internet. For the most part, I raised them myself. I was the biggest influence in their lives until they were old enough to let their friends have a bigger influence. That is the natural progression I suppose.

I have had more than my share of experience with women mentally, emotionally and sexually. I know from that experience that it is ALWAYS about quality and not quantity. Still I have been around the block a time or two and learned a lot from all of my experiences. I hope to share many of them right here on this blog as time goes on. I hope someone can gain something from it and be entertained along the way.

Politically I am conservative, but I take my politics and religion in moderation. You probably won't see rambling posts about either. I am laid back and enjoy the simple things, so you won't see much about me "keeping up with the Joneses".

Hopefully someone will enjoy and comment.

Me

I guess if anyone is going to read this, they should know a little about me and where I'm coming from to better understand why I am the way I am and why I see things the way I do. In this post, I will give some general background information.

I am a 38 year-old single dad. I use that term loosely since my son is grown and gone and my 17 year-old daughter is almost never at home. I had custody of them from the time they were very young, so there were many years that I had basically no life outside of them or work except for the very occasional getaway.

Having my first child less than a month after I turned 19, there isn't much I haven't done for a living at some point. Not all of it was even completely legal, but I had small kids to feed that were hungry every single day. These days I work in software, networks and computers. I have led a very colorful life so far. At times my life has been something of legend and at times it has been completely boring. I guess most people could say the same thing. Still I consider my life experience to be somewhere pretty north of average.

As for women, I have been married only once. I was NOT married to the mother of my kids. That is another story entirely. I had a short, but great marriage. We were just too young to do what we were doing. I have been in love a grand total of 3 times. One of those was the woman I married. The other two I will probably post about at some point.

My parents are married today. I have a pretty good example from them how relationships/marriages should be. I thank them for being the "normal" influence in my all but normal life.

What you will read here going forward will be unfiltered because that is how I am in real life. I will be abrasive at times and sensitive at others. I will cuss freely. I will overuse contractions and commas. You English majors are welcome to send me edited copies of my posts. I write as I speak and as I live. I hope some poeple will enjoy it, be entertained by it and maybe even learn from it. Most of all I hope it is worth the time of anyone who decides to read. I welcome comments and discussion about any subject matter. I also ask that if you want to discuss anything personal to me, you start my sending me an email. As public as this is, I am a private person. If you know me and want to discuss anything, start directly with me. If you don't know me, feel free to start right in the comments.

I hope someone will enjoy this. If not, maybe it is still therapy for me.

Back Again

Well I have done more than my share of blogging before and I have recently been inspired to do it again. I hope to keep it relatively anonymous, but the nature of what I write about will be pretty personal. I hope anyone who reads this will understand.

I'll start by explaining the origins of the identity of my blog. A few years ago I used to hang out with a female friend of mine and talk about everything under the sun. On the nights we would get together and discuss the inner workings of our brains, I would be invited to hang out on the porch. With each invitation would come the same request. "You bring the beer." she would say. We would sit and drink a few Rolling Rock beers and talk about everything, anything and nothing all at once. It was enlightening. Most of all it was unfiltered. That is how I intend to keep this blog. It isn't intended for the young or the faint of heart. It is intended for real people who can understand and absorb real events. I will try to write things as light-hearted and humorous as possible, but my life is sometimes anything but that. At times it will be deep and possibly depressing and at other times very fun and borderline dysfunctional. If you enjoy what you read, great! If not, I will aplolgize now and not so much in the future. You have been warned.

I hope you will enjoy what I have to say and be entertained. I hope it sparks thought and discussion. I welcome all thoughts and comments. This will be my outlet. If you enjoy it, great! If not, please enjoy something else. I will keep it as anonymous as possible, but I am pretty open. If you want to further discuss anything, feel free to leave comments and discuss with everyone or send me an email and just discuss with me.

Let the games begin (again)!
